Description
Why is the hand examined with a magnetic camera?
Our hands are extremely important organs with multiple functions, they allow us to grasp and influence objects in our environment and at the same time constitute a sense or sensory organ that allows us to experience and feel our surroundings. Hand injuries or diseases that affect the hands can therefore have a very large and negative impact on our daily life, even if they are mild.
Since the hands are extremely complicated structures with a dense network of nerves, vessels, tendons and bones, trauma often leads to combined injuries in the different parts of the hand. Injuries that may seem harmless at first glance can often hide deeper and more severe injuries to small tendons and nerves, injuries that are unfortunately often overlooked in the first contact with healthcare.
Injured hands not infrequently affect the ability to work with boring financial consequences for both the individual in question and society at large. An MRI of the hand shows in high resolution small details in the skeleton and soft tissue that can otherwise be difficult to detect, it can be diseases of joints, damage to cartilage, tendons or nerves. The examination takes approximately 30 minutes.
What can be detected by MR-Hand?
- Fractures
- Ligament and joint injuries
- Tendon injuries
- Nerve damage
- Joint diseases
- Arthritis
- Infections
Preparations
If you have metal splinters, a pacemaker, an insulin pump or other electronic equipment in your body, you cannot be examined with a magnetic camera. Metal that is not magnetic, on the other hand, does not pose an obstacle for magnetic camera examination.
